SURFER
BOB: (Sound of snoring. And talking in
his sleep.)
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: (Mumbling to himself while
looking for a map) (Tip toeing around the room,
trying not to wake Bob. He accidentally knocks
over some papers.)
SURFER
BOB: (Surfer Bob wakes up abruptly.) Who’s
there!? It’s a robber! GET OUTTA HERE YOU
VARMIT!!!!
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: Don’t worry, Bob, it’s
just me. I’m sorry to wake you up. I just
left something here earlier, and I wanted to use
it as an illustration for a lesson I am giving
tomorrow at Sunday School.
SURFER
BOB: Well gosh, Christopher, you about
scared the wagebiezzzz out of me. I was just trying
to get some shuteye.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: Sorry Bob, ………
SURFER
BOB: OK, well I am going back to sleep
then.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: OK, Bob. (Mr. C rambles through
paper, making loud noises on accident disrupting
Bob’s sleep again.)
SURFER
BOB: uuuuuggggggghhhhhhhhh … so what
are you looking for there, Christopher?
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: I was preparing for my lesson
tomorrow for Sunday School, and I remembered I
left one of my illustrations here. It is a map
about this big … and it is labeled 10/40
Window.
SURFER
BOB: Winder, I thought you were looking
for a map.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: It is a map … the title
across the top says 10/40 Window. I was working
on it earlier, and Penny was going to make a few
last-minute changes on it. Well I left it here,
and I can’t find it anywhere.
SURFER
BOB: What type of map has a winder in it?
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: No Bob, the 10/40 Window is
a way mission strategy coordinators here in the
U.S. describe the area of the world that has yet
to hear about Jesus Christ and has little to no
access to His gospel. Hey Bob, since you're up,
can you find me any info on the 10/40 Window?
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: See gang, the phrase 10/40
Window was coined by a man named Luis Bush. He
called this region of the world the 10/40 Window
because it stretches from 10 degrees north of
the equator to 40 degrees latitude north of the
equator.
SURFER
BOB: Hey Mr. C, I found a Geographic Locator
about the 10/40 Window for ya. Check it out.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: Another phrase to describe
this region is the “Last Frontier.”
Many of the people in this region have never even
heard the name of Jesus.
SURFER
BOB: So it’s kinda like uncharted
territories … like Lewis and Clark and other
explorers and stuff.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: Well sort of, Bob; we need
to continue to send missionaries there to share
with the people of this region of the world. So
you see gang, the numerous people groups in the
Last Frontier or the 10/40 Window are very important
for us to be aware of and to pray for. We need
to pray for bold people of faith to go and explore,
and share God’s love to these lost people
groups. Hey, while I look for this map, take a
look at today’s PowerVerse.
KOM PowerVerse
Matthew 28:19-20a, NIV
"Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I
have commanded you …”
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: God called each of us, as
Christians, to go into all nations proclaiming
the love of Jesus. We are to go and teach God’s
Word, and tell the lost about Jesus and how they
can know Him. God loves all of us and wants EVERY
person to know Him. God’s passion is “That
all the peoples of the earth may know Him.”
SURFER
BOB: Uuuummmmm.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: Yes, Bob.
SURFER
BOB: Actually just found a feature that
talks about that very thing. It tells how we are
all called into God’s plan.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: OK, lets see it, Bob.
MR.
CHRISTOPHER: Well Bob thanks for finding
that for us. Bob???? OH? Well, SSSHHHHHH Bob’s
fallen back asleep ,,, . Now that map should be
around here somewhere. I have looked all over
this desk. Well I haven’t looked over …
(Mr. C walks over to the map book; the map he
is looking for is half hanging out of the front
of the book; he flips through the book a little,
then he sees it.) There it is, I am glad I found
it. It is always in the last place you look. Well,
I am going to go home and get some sleep myself.

in sleep) Sorry … SSSHHH, have a good night
