SURFER
BOB: Hey mission amigos! This
here's Surfer Bob comin' to ya from the KOM newsroom
ta bring ya another inter-estin' story from the
field. My good ole' buddy Dave Dudeman is onlocation
in Africa and is gonna help us out with this special
briefin' on the Maasai people of Kenya. So, without
further A-dieu
take it away Dave.
DAVE
DUDEMAN:
"Yes, well, test
test
test
is
this thing on? Oh, OK
well good. (clears
his throat) Hmmm
hmmm
this is Dave
Dudeman reporting to you live, well not all together
live,
but live in the sense of
never mind. LIVE,
from Masaai country in Kenya, East Africa. Now,
the reason we are here onlocation is because this
Maasai story is really huge! I mean HUGE! Not
as
huge as my Aunt Loretta, but HUGE nonetheless.
We are here to cover the story of the Maasai hearing
the story of the Messai-UH. (Ted Baxter style rumbling
laugh). Maasai
Messai-UH! Ok, so anyway,
you kids stay with me now because this is a really,
really in-depth yet intriguing story. These folks
are swell so pay attention. But, before we jump
right in with the Maasai
and let me tell you
these Maasai characters can really jump
let's
first get a handle on just where we are
uh,
excuse me sir
where are we? (a Maasai
man walks by and looks at Dave like he doesn't
understand
a word that he is saying). Oh, um, yes, well perhaps
we should figure this out in a Geographic Locator.

DAVE DUDEMAN:
"OK, so now that you know where we are let's
just take a walk into one of the 'bomas' as
they
call their homesteads (his toupee gets pulled
off by a tree)
oh, hey, wait
hold
on Bob
I'll have to get right back to
you!"
SURFER BOB: (Bob
is chuckling) "Well, ole Dave seems to
have lost his top if ya know what I mean
amigitos!
He sure is doing a good job out there in that
Kenyan heat, though. Hair ain't all it's
cracked
up ta be anyway. But, I sure hope he doesn't
get sunburn topside, if ya know what I mean
KOMsters.
Then again, I've never known ole' Dave Dudeman
ta be a hothead! Heh
heh
heh!
Anyway, we better get back ta his report.
Take it away
Dave!"
DAVE DUDEMAN:
"Thanks Surfer Bob. OK, I think that we are
set to go again. There are all kinds of treacherous
things out here in the bush. Peril waits at every
turn. Lions, cobras and thorns abound out here
in Maasai country. Personally speaking, this is
rough country for a reporter. (Somebody interrupts
him)."
DAVE'S ASSISTANT:
"Here is your
ice tea Mr. Dudeman. And, we've kept the airconditioner
running in the car."
DAVE DUDEMAN: "Oh
yes
that'll
be fine, thanks. Now
hmmm
hmmm
where
was I. Yes, well for MOST people it's pretty
rough
out here. But, in spite of the danger there are
some really fine folks bringing the gospel
to
the Maasai. And, you know what, all of their
hard work is not in vain. There has been
an amazing
movement of God among the Maasai. And, Southern
Baptist missionaries and volunteers have
teamed
up with Maasai evangelists and ministers to join
God in this movement. But hey, don't take
my word
for it
watch this."
SURFER BOB:
"Yeee doggies! That was some kind of report
Dudeman! You ARE DA DUDE, MAN! Heh
heh
heh!"
DAVE DUDEMAN:
"Well thank
you, Bob. This is a tough job, but we do it with
a happy heart."
SURFER BOB:
"Yeah well, we just got word from yer hotel
that they weren't able to arrange fer the monogrammed
towels. Roughin' out there are ya Dudeman?"
DAVE DUDEMAN: "Um,
yes well
anyway. This is Dave Dudeman
reporting to you from Kenya. You youngsters
make sure to
stay tuned to what is going on in Kenya and around
the world of missions by visiting the newly
established
Kids On Mission website at: http://kidsonmission.org.
I hear that this whole new Internet thing
is really
taking off."
SURFER BOB:
"Heh
heh
yeah well Dave, it
took off a long time ago! Boy is he behind the
times.
Listen here, for those of you KOMsters who don't
want to write to us from the Web site, why don't
ya write us a letter at: Kids On Mission, International
Mission Board, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA
23230.
We can't wait ta hear from ya! I guess that about
wraps it up for today. Thanks again for the
report
Dave!"
DAVE DUDEMAN:
"My pleasure indeed, Surfer Bob. I have
certainly enjoyed this beautiful land. I have
felt right
at home and I'm not lyin'. (the sound of a lion
comes from off camera). Hmmm, um
speaking
of lion
I've got to run, and I mean
literally! Over and out!"
SURFER BOB:
"Ooooh boy! I hope that ole' Dave hombre's
gonna be OK! He better get on back to his hotel
for supper
BEFORE HE BECOMES SUPPER! Well
